The Venezuelan Andes are located on the Western Mountain Range arm of the northern Andes. Some of the mountains’ summits can go as high as 5,000 meters above sea level. In these mountains you can appreciate how the height causes a notorious variation on the plants and climate. You can find forests in the valleys and lower heights of the mountains, páramos splashed by crystalline lagoons all covered by typical “frailejones” (typical plant). We can even reach glaciers at the top of the summits. It is a region of stunning landscapes whose inhabitants are characterized by their simplicity and hospitality. The Andes is considered the cradle of Venezuelan art, you can find picturesque towns filled with red roofs houses and stone streets, living relics of past times. This region is known for its distinguished gastronomy.
